My Best Post of The Week >> Add yours

MBPWI love sitting down to write this weekly post as it means the weekend is here and for me weekend’s are precious. Usually they are way too busy as I like to do things with my family that is just not possible during the week, plus there’s gardening, DIY and family to go and visit so normally by Sunday evening I’m pretty exhausted and looking forward to some downtime, oh hang on a minute, it’s Monday tomorrow and back on the treadmill that is life.

But it’s nice to get to Sunday evening and think, what a great weekend.

We usually ask the girls what was their best bit, it’s a great exercise on remembering (which I have to say is not a strong point) but it’s also a great way to send them to sleep with happy thoughts to dwell on.

I attended a parents meeting at school this week for a phonics screening taking place for all Year 1 children in June, they gave us the ins and outs and told us not to worry too much about it, then I heard another mum (also a teacher) say that next year the entire curriculum is being changing and being taken down a year. That means reception class will do the phonics test…it may be me but aren’t we testing our kids a bit too early? Do we really need to start screening them now?

Let’s end this post on a high shall we? I’m choosing our Top 5 beaches of Cornwall for my best post of the week, what’s yours? Please add it to the Linky below and have a wonderful weekend.

Definitely testing kids too early and too much for that matter. I'm endlessly ranting about it! But on a positive note, like you, it's nice to plan the weekend. And I hope to be outside for much of it if I can - even if I have to have thermals on! :)
