The sun is shinning most of the time these days and we have to make sure we prepare our skin for it too! Long gone are the days when we used to lie on the beach for hours and not get burnt. The sun is different now and the levels of radiation are higher than ever so we all have to take care.
Since I became a mother I only buy factor 50 protection sunscreen. I wish I could find a higher protection factor sun screen for my girls especially as they are so white! During the summer we have to use sunscreen all the time not only when we go to the beach. Even walking down the street or playing in the park can be dangerous and can end in heat stroke unfortunately.
So if you spend lots of time outside to make sure that you are always protected you will have to reapply your sunscreen every two hours and if possible stay indoors between 11 am and 3 pm.
Skin protection is important but what other measures can we take during the hot season to make sure we look good and healthy?
The very wonderful Nikki Thomas over on her blog Stressy Mummy tells as all how to maintain a healthy skin in her post Five stress-free methods to maintain healthy skin. She reminds us that we need to cleanse and hydrate our skin in order to keep ourselves young and healthy.
Drinking water is one of the most important things you have to remember to do during summer especially if you travel around midday. Never travel without a bottle of water in your handbag. In my post on Gold Sprinkles I give you even more reasons why you should be drinking even more water this summer.
As in my first round-up I am advising you all to be natural this summer with make-up and the way you look after your body and skin. Home made products are primordial but I do love shop bought products that are aiming to be as natural as possible. My lovely sister send me from Abu-Dhabi a miracle mask called “Dark Angels” and a parsley Porridge Soap from Lush. You can find them both in UK too and they are very good to cleanse your skin of black spots and dead skin. I just started using them but I am planning to continue to get my skin ready for my beach holiday in July.
Lush has a good collaboration with bloggers and I know that quite a few have reviewed their products. The most impressive reviews I read are from All The Beautiful Things – Lush Stardust Gift Box Review, Katie Reed’s video review Lush Caca Rouge Henna Hair Dye and You’re My Sunshine On a Cloudy Day Lush Goodies Review.
Mums Make Lists also put together a list of natural ingredients products that can help your beauty regime for less – Natural Beauty Ingredients.
But skin is not the only part of our body that we need to keep natural and healthy. In her video blog Lisa Gusto is telling us how switching from the chemical makeup to the natural , chemical free make up changed her life. She is also giving you advice on where to start and what are the best no chemical products that you can use.
However for mums like me that are still finding their favourites when it comes to skin and make-up a good idea will be to subscribe to a beauty monthly box. With these you will always be surprise and you can discover new and seasonal products too. Amanda Cottingham of The Ana Mum Dairy is giving us an inside account on what it is like to be subscribed to such beauty boxes – I love Mondays: Birchbox VS Glossybox. I have to admit something now: I love Amanda’s Beauty and Fashion posts so I highly recommend them to all of you!
If you are going on holiday this month then I wish you all to have a wonderful time!
Be safe and love yourself!
Until next time…
