Home & Design: Autumnal inspiration & The Shining!

home and design round upBlimey, you’ve all been busy with your home improvements, and sharing you interior styling ideas!

It feels like a new year somehow, now the kids are back at school.  I don’t know about you but I have a little spring in my step this September, and I am making lots of plans for the coming season. Last week I had an adventure in London with two Italian designer chairs, that was amazing, and an experience I will never forget.  Look at how I got on, and which of my favourite places in London I got to photograph.

Looking for interiors inspiration Hotel styley? Well Karen at Making Spaces  is tantalising us with her Honeymoon hotel in NYC – Gild Hall. Even the hallway leading to her room was a tribute to The Overlook Hotel from The Shining.  So cool!

Jen from Love Chic Living, has been offering her advice on how to change-up those Student digs, something I wished I’d have known all those light years ago.  I remember one Uni friend actually added fitted carpet to her Halls accommodation, I was both impressed, and shocked!

With Autumn fast approaching, Antonia from Tidy life has been looking at how to layer lighting in your home.  I love how she has added charm and personality to her dining room. Oh and that Black wall, LOVE.

Carole from Dear Designer has been offering advice on creating cosy corners, making preparations for candlelit suppers, turning your bedroom into a warm retreat as well as adding a welcoming atmosphere to your home.  I think she covered all of the bases there.

Considering painting furniture? I know I’m planning this in my hallway with a particularly ugly orange wood console table, that needs a revamp.  Well Katy from Apartment Apothecary has lots of tips and tricks, and soon she’ll be sharing a bathroom revamp which I’ll share the link to next time.

Rachel from the Fresh Design Blog, has some modern copper inspiration all bundled up and ready for you to buy.  I love the side table, I think I can find room for that somewhere!

Finally are you looking for pointers on how to find statement art on a budget? Maxine gives you the low down with some great ideas and tips.  I love her advice on filling your basket first, before making your choice.

That’s it for this month, but do let me know if you have any posts for the next Home and Design Round-up, I’d love to read them.
