Well I never, the month of August has quite escaped me, I decided to have a bit of a bloggy break and have throughly enjoyed it. I highly recommend a bloggy break every now and then. If you have not yet been brave enough to stay away from your blog for any length of time, go on – do it! It really does help you to gain perspective and relax and enjoy the everyday things in life.
Before I knew it we were at Wednesday this week and my copy deadline is Thursday, so I tweeted and posted asking for any inspirational posts that people have read and boy was there a fabulous response. You just never can tell, one month is dry and another sees inspiration in abundance. Sadly I can only choose a few to highlight each month but rest assured they all get read and enjoyed.
Inspirational Mums
First up let’s visit Jayne over at Mums the Word, I was really drawn in as I read her post titled ‘Running back to Motherhood’. This from the heart post is a compelling read and one that so many mums will relate to. Best of luck Jayne, we are all rooting for you!
Next up is a post from Angie at Cakes, Photos, Life who shares with us some wonderful photos of disabled children and her son from a summer play scheme as they have their own fun for the Paralympics. Anyone who has watched any of the Paralympics so far will know what a majorly inspirational time this is. On Monday my children are off with dh to watch the wheelchair basketball in the Olympic Village and sadly I’ll be working.
That is what becomes of me heading off to Ethiopia though and having time off for that. But what an amazing journey, please do follow my trip and Jen Howze is also travelling with me and 10 other inspirational American Mom bloggers. We are journeying with ONE, the wonderful advocacy and campaigning organisation and we hope to share with you stories to inspire and engage you.
At BritMums earlier this year a massive room full of women were inspired and reduced to tears by the beautiful Hayley of Downs Side Up. She blogs about her family life with Natty, her little girl who has downs syndrome and Jacqui of Mummy’s Little Monkey was so touched by her reading at BritMums that she wanted to share Hayleys blog and give her a few nice treats to say a big well done. Ahh, don’t you just love selfless acts? Go and check out Jacqui’s Spread a Smile post.
I’m not even sure where to start with my next recommendation. For the first time today I visited Anecdotes of a Manic Mum and I was literally kocked over to read the letters of this inspiring woman whose husband suffered a head injury in October 2011, she now finds herself coping as a single mum of 4 young children while her husband undergoes neuro-reducation. I urge you to go and read and offer your support.
If you have ever found yourself struggling with being a working mum then do have a read of this great post from Fiona at Coombe Mill, I must admit to an intake of breath when I read that by the age of 4 she had never even bought her eldest child a pair of shoes. Not because I was judging but I just had no idea that was reality for some British people. Of course Fiona took a big plunge and moved to Cornwall to start her own business and here she tells us how we really can have it all.
Shout it out….
Last month I read a post that I absolutley loved and I forgot to put it in my round-up. The day after it published I could of kicked myself, instead I saved it for your delight this month. Kelly at the Big Fastionista wrote a wonderful post titled What have you done today to make you feel proud and it obvioulsy spoke to lots of people, the idea was to shout from the rooftops what you have done today that made you feel proud. She reminds us all that it is OK to celebrate success and that sometimes we have to be totally unBritish and just say, ‘yes I did fab!’. So go on join in, leave a comment here and shout out what has made you proud. New job, baby slept through the night, lost a lb, enjoyed a cuppa in peace – anything…….. go on……
And don’t forget to link up any positive and inspirational posts that you have written recently and would like to share. Wishing you a wonderful September. Mich x
About Michelle Pannell
Mummy from the Heart is the fourth baby of Michelle, a 46 year old (manic) mother living in East Sussex. Having moved to the countryside and ‘retired’, Michelle can now be found eating too much cake and taking long walks. She lives life on the bright side and looks for the joy in every situation, even the excess pounds those cakes keep adding! Michelle’s blog is a very honest place where she shares tales of imperfect parenting, being a Christian digital activist and anything else that takes her fancy.

Hi there - thanks for a great round up...bizarrely enough I have a linky that I tried to launch a few months ago about being proud of ourselves for anything from the very small to the very big...but due to one thing or another I didn't manage to get it off the ground. I shall be re-launching in September though, so watch this space! http://www.kiddycharts.com/working-mums/working-mums-proud-to-be-a-mum-in-business/
