Adoption and Fostering round-up

Hi there and welcome to March’s Adoption and Fostering round up. I’m Vicki from The Boy’s Behaviour and I’m so pleased to be back editing this important round-up, along with Sarah from The Puffin Diaries.

I’ve so many posts to share with you this month on a number of different topics, so forgive me if I cut down on the introductions and let the posts speak for themselves…albeit in a slightly higgledy piggledy manner!

This great – if slightly tongue-in-cheek post from single adoptive mum and foster carer Suddenly Mummy looks at attributes missing from the parenting job description.

This photo-filled post from Adopt and Keep Calm is all about friends. The photos say it all.

Another friendship based post from Hoops and Hurdles, but this one is about friends as part of your support network. That support network doesn’t always turn out the way you think it will…

If you haven’t come across All Aboard The Trauma Train before, then please do check it out. The blog is written by adoptive mum Amanda, and adopted daughter Jazz. This post is from Jazz and includes a great video too.

Another video I’d recommend is included in this post from Life With Katie and Pip. ReMoved shows great insight about the care system, and although emotional, it’s well worth watching. Gem also talks about some forthcoming posts she’s hosting from the National Fostering Agency over the next few weeks, so look out for those.

Adopting Safe Mummy Ways is celebrating at the moment. Not only has Biggey started introductions at her new school, but whilst there, AdoptMum took an opportunity to enjoy a cuppa and a biscuit…on her own!

More school talk at Precious Stones, but about the morning rush and challenges of getting there…

Reluctant Football Mum has written a post that I’m sure many adoptive parents can identify with – I certainly can. What about you? Do you know who you are?

Over at The Adoption Social, we host a linky every couple of weeks on ‘The Things We Do’ – where bloggers can share tips that make their lives easier or make things run that little bit smoother… Frogotter has shared her colour coding system which helps keep things running smoothly in her house. 3 Bees and a honey recently celebrated a very important event – a 13^th birthday, she’s shared how she made it a success -with the help of 713 photos! And on my own blog, I’ve written about ‘The Car Box’.

Vicki is adoptive mum to 7 year old Mini, who wants to be a cowboy when he grows up, and birth mum to nearly 4 year old Dollop, who is looking forward to starting school in September.

Vicki is also co-founder of The Adoption Social and blogs at The Boys Behaviour, which began as a record of the journey towards help for Mini as he struggles to come to terms with his background. She writes about their therapy sessions, feelings, behaviour and anything else in between.
