5 things I want to do at #BML16

Humour Round-up Editor Claire Kirby is a BritMums Live virgin and blogging conference newbie! This is what she’s most looking forward to at the big event!

BML16 This is Me ImageI couldn’t attend BritMums Live last year. It clashed with my best friend’s wedding, and I had very important Maid of Honour duties to perform. My hair and make-up might not be as glam as this time last year, but nonetheless I am very excited to be attending. Plus it’s a great excuse for a new dress.

#BML16 is my first blogging conference. The advice from bloggers who have attended the event before is to plan what you want to do. I’ve brought the dress, got a shiny new notebook and some posh looking business cards. The husband has been briefed that spots and stripes do not match when dressing the boys in my absence, so I am all set to go.

As for the day itself, these are my top 5 things I want to do:

1. Meet people!

The list of people I want to say hi to, hug, stalk, and make my bff is getting pretty big! The writers whose blogs I can’t get enough of. The people that comment on my blog and join in with my linky. The awesome bloggers that give advice and have taught me so much. The blogging royalty who inspire me to be a better blogger. And the amazing people from the blogging community that will transcend from virtual friends to real friends.

2. Learn stuff (That’s what the new notebook is for!)

I plan on attending the following breakout sessions:

  • Understanding SEO with Judith Williams. I still feel like such a beginner when it comes to SEO and the jargon that surrounds it.  I’m hoping to learn a lot from this session and apply it to my blog.
  • Up Your Game: Innovative Ways To Make Money. I am sure I will be inspired by this talk, plus one of the speakers is Vicki Psarias from Honest Mum, part of the blogging royalty I mentioned earlier.
  • Understanding Google Analytics: For the simple reason that I really don’t understand it!

3. Network with brands

I have worked with some great brands since starting my blog. But I have had my fair share (more than) of “We do not work with bloggers” and “We want to work with you but have no budget“. It feels like a gift to be able to network with brands that want to work with bloggers and know our worth. Plus I’ve heard there’s some pretty cool goody bags.

4. Listen to the Bloggers’ Keynote

Rumour has it it’s quite the highlight and not a dry eye in the house.  Definitely one not to be missed.

5. Attend the BiBs ceremony

I had the honour of being shortlisted to the final 10 in the family category this year.  There are so many fantastic blogs in the running and I can’t wait to see who wins.  Probably another ‘not a dry eye in the house’ moment.

Note to self: Must remember to wear waterproof mascara.

I look forward to meeting lots of you there. Check out the full agenda for #BML16.

About Claire Kirby

Claire is the blogger behind Life, Love and Dirty Dishes. A blog about the amusing side of parenting. Claire's claim to fame is that she once spoke to Phillip Schofield on a Going Live phone in. Awesome, right? She with three boys; The Husband, Big (9), who never ever stops talking, and Little (5), who never ever stands still. They live in a Lego house. They don’t really, but they have so much off the stuff they could probably build one.

Glad you are looking forward to my session... at least I thinkyou are ;-)

It's more aimed at beginners as last year the advanced session was too advanced for most of the audience so we're pulled it back and gone for intro level stuff.

Hope it helps you!
