Victoria Welton

Poetry & Prose Round-up co-Editor Victoria Welton is a BritMums Live veteran and shares her excitement about the event (which is only two weeks away!) here. Victoria explains…

This will be my fourth year at BML and you can find out more about who I am and what I am wearing on my ‘I’m Going’ Post. I have to say that 4 out of 5 ain’t half bad! But, despite the fact that I am almost a ‘veteran’ (can I class myself as that?!) I still love the build-up, the excitement and really look forward to meeting blogging faces – old and new (old as in the ‘been around for ages’ sense!)

This year, Jennifer and Susanna have changed the format a little so, with so much going on, I thought I would share with you the 5 things that I am really looking forward to.

1. The Fringe Party

This is something that hasn’t been run before. In previous years, BritMums Live took place over two days but this year it is just the Saturday. However, I still wanted to find an excuse to stay up in London for two nights and extend the BritMums Live experience so the Fringe Party was the perfect way! Taking place at the Holiday Inn in Camden Lock, the party will start at 7pm with some complimentary drinks and nibbles and then the bar is open to purchase additional drinks. A great way to socialise and speak to people before the event.

2. Catching up with Bloggers

One of the things that I love is being able to meet up with the faces behind the blogs – it makes a change from doing it over Twitter or Facebook or blog commenting. I am terrible at remembering which person matches up with which blog and whether I have actually met them IRL (in real life) before! This is where virtual and actual reality all gets rolled up into one! Please don’t take offence if I don’t recognise you – but please do nudge me and say hello.

3. Learning new skills

Whenever I have come away from BritMums Live, I find I have learned or expanded on at least one area of my blogging knowledge. Every year it has also helped refocus and reignite my inspiration for my blog. The enthusiasm really rubs off on you!

4. The Bloggers Keynote Speeches

Every time, without fail, this makes me laugh, cry and empathise. Some of the posts that are presented I have already read and some I know nothing about but, what I love is the fact that the blogger who wrote it is usually reading it. Somehow it really brings the post to life and sometimes it puts a different spin on it.

5. The BiBs Party and Cake!

With this being the 5th Birthday of BritMums Live, you can be sure that there will be plenty of cake around – and which blogger doesn’t love a bit of cake?! With a cake break at 10.15am, a birthday cake break at 3.35pm, probably more cake scattered throughout the day and, of course, the BiBs party we certainly won’t miss out! What a great way to lead up to the awards ceremony.

“I’d love to know which part of BritMums Live is your favourite?”

If you are going, have a wonderful time and I hope to see you there!
