Hope everyone is well and the children are settling back into school and routine. It has been another turbulent few weeks, for every family in the UK. I think in these days it’s more important to look after our physical and mental well-being and hold out a helping hand to those who need them. Helping, volunteering, donating or even just raising awareness is not only a charitable action but it’s un uplifting thing to do too: you will feel more socially connected, content and generally it’s a mood boosting.
#secondhandsemptember with Oxfam
The first post is related to #secondhandsemptember launched by Oxfam and now it’s a yearly occurrence. The idea is to encourage people to buy second hand more, thus supporting not only charities but a more sustainable lifestyle. In this post, Emma from Even Angels Fall shows off her latest charity shop finds – and encouraging everyone to give it a go.
Soothing the smallest

Second post I have for you, is from Crummy Mummy who’s raising awareness for preemies. Did you know that every year in the UK 95,000 babies – that’s one in 8 – are born prematurely? And that neonatal intensive care costs the NHS £1,500 per day and many hospitals simply don’t have the equipment needed to care for extremely preterm babies? Read her post here and learn how to help.
Compass Fostering
Linking back to what I was talking about in the beginning of this post: never been more important to talk with the children about their feelings. As so many of them feel a little bit lost, confused and sad about these truly unprecedented times. Becky from A Beautiful Space has written a lovely post about this – how to encourage the kids to talk about their feelings. the post is linked to Compass Fostering and also highlights the important work they do for vulnerable children.
Noah’s Ark Foundation
And finally I have a charity post too, as part of my The Good Cause of the Month series: about Noah’s Ark Foundation, Ecological And Conservation Park. Noah’s Ark will be an animal and ecological conservation park covering 100 square kilometres on the North East coast of KwaZulu Natal, South Africa. Set be the largest conservation project to date. Read my post about it here.
I hope you enjoyed learning about some new movements and charities – take care and until next month!
