This month, rather than sharing the best writing the Under 30 community has to offer, I thought we’d take a look at their lives through the lens.
It was incredibly hard to choose who to feature this month. The calibre of Instagram feeds out there is, quite frankly, insane, and clearly this is a hugely popular platform. But, after scrolling through Instagram profiles on multiple train commutes in and out of London in the last few weeks, there’s a few I thought I’d take the opportunity to bring your attention to.
In alphabetical order…
Alex’s Instagram feed is bright, fun and full of smiles. (There are also quite a few planes thanks to her two young boys!) Her style is polished but casual, and leaves you with a smile on your face and an aching thumb from scrolling for so long through her feed!
Char is a professional photography, so this isn’t an entirely fair bar to set, but I hadn’t come across Char’s Instagram before, and I found it rather a breath of fresh air. Her feed is a delightful mix of arty, gorgeous family photography and lovely, natural (but still beautifully shot) everyday snaps of her family of five, without being stylised or unnatural. If anything, Char seems to go through phases of using black and white, then lots of white, then seaside shots (clearly when they went on holiday, the sea was her muse!) and so on. It was a joy to scroll through, and the ‘phases,’ whether intentional or not, were a lovely way to punctuate her feed.
This is one of those Instagram feeds you just can’t stop scrolling through. If there was a ‘like all’ button, I’d have clicked it. Kaye’s feed is beautifully constructed, mostly monochrome shots of her beautiful boys with the odd splash of colour, usually in the form of fashion or lifestyle photography. All this is only made sweeter by the fact her youngest is only a matter of weeks old – and who can refuse a newborn babe to coo over?
With three boys in tow, Esther arguably has endless material for her Instagram. But her natural style and bold, close up photography, mixed with three cheeky smiles makes for something really special. This was another new feed for me and if there was a ‘like all’ button I would have clicked it. As well as documenting her tribe growing up, Esther also features a lot of children’s style posts. However, these are shot in a different way than I’ve seen before. Less ‘hanging pretty on a hanger’ or posed shots, more zoomed in on beautifully captured, real moments. And the icing on the cake? Some of her littlest’s faces are just priceless.
I’ve followed Alice on Instagram for well over a year and still haven’t tired of her sunny, beachlife photos. Whether they’re baking cakes (which they do a lot), giggling on Bournemouth beach (which they also do a lot) or sharing their latest pretty thing find from ice lolly cushions to toddler style. Alice effortlessly combines gorgeous photography skills with ‘a sunny slice of life’ style and little Amelia’s lovely little personality just shines through. She’s also really embraced Instagram Stories, given you a proper sneaky peak into their day to day life.
I don’t know about ‘Mum Adventures’ but Lara is definitely one ‘Stylish Mum’. It’s got everything from macaroons and peonies to pink vespas and high heals. There’s something incredibly aspirational yet personal about her feed, with captions that make you feel like she knows you (or maybe that’s just me, sounding like the fan girl I now am…). Definitely one to scroll through if you’re a lover of pretty things, beautifully captured.
Choosing a photo to feature from Louise’s feed was nearly impossible. Almost every photo puts a smile on your face as the sibling bond and love between her three little ones shines through in each shot. You can almost hear the infectious giggling Louise captures in each photo. Her feed also has a real ‘free range’ feel, with lots snaps of the kids running through lavender feels, across green rolling hills and splashing in the waves on the British coast line.
Clare’s captions had me laughing out loud on my train home last week, combined with her daughter’s adorable, squidgey face, what’s not to love about this Instagram account? It’s a real slice of life approach to Instagram, a mix of selfies, cake and ‘kids do the darnest things’.
And last, but by no means least, we have Victoria. I found her feed is incredibly calming with green rolling hills, lavender fields and tea and fluffy slippers. (Which given she has two boys, is quite unexpected!) Her photography is very natural, without lacking
