In a blink of an eye summers end is almost upon us. It has kissed us with sunshine, drenched us in torrential rain but, as always, left us with so many unforgettable moments. In this month’s BritMums happiness round-up we are raising a glass to a summer full of memories. We have some gorgeously happy posts that will leave you reminiscing about summer days gone by and dreaming about your future plans.
Memorable places and faces
Our most memorable time over the summer was spent in Wales on our first proper family getaway. It’s always been so difficult to manage any more than a few days away because of work, so this holiday was extra special for us. And not only that, we also got a chance to catch up with some blogger pals. We celebrated my birthday with Dawn from Rhyming with Wine, who brings ALL the giggles no matter where she goes. Which brings me onto her hilarious and unexpected predicament of forgetting to pack her ermmm… clothes for the holiday. #TrueStory.
We also managed to find Dawn from Dear Mummy for a playground hangout. Poor Dawn was recovering from surgery, but she wasn’t going to let that stop her from kicking up those heels for a good old shindig!
We missed her by a few weeks in Wales, but the summer also brought Bridget from Bridie By The Sea to the Pembrokeshire coastline for some seaside frolics.
Life’s a beach
What do you make of the beach? It’s one of our favourite places and I couldn’t imagine a summer without sand in my toes. Nicola from All Things Spliced feels the same and shares a little decadent indulgence with me, beach huts! As does Hayley from Sparkles and Stretchmarks whose beach babies get to enjoy life by the sea every day.
I’ve always loved the quote “Seas the day” and Michael from This Real Life Dad did just that and felt so much better for it. It just goes to show what a day at the beach can do for our well-being.
If you’re missing that summer beach-face feeling already, Becky from Cuddle Fairy will whisk you right back with a lovely video capture of her time at Mulranny beach in Ireland.
What you have loved
Without a doubt everyone has enjoyed holding their little ones that much closer through the summer break, like Natalie from Meme and Harri who enjoyed the ordinary moments with her family. Birthday reflections stole the show over on More Than Toast with Alice, as did an epic relocation with Aby from You Baby Me Mummy.
Whether off on adventures or taking it easy in the park, one thing was certain. There were photos. Loads of them. But the question is, do you keep all your funny, crazy and sometimes blurry captures like Molly from Mother’s Always Right? Now there’s food for thought.
Where to next
Our break to Wales made us see just how important family holiday time really is. If a staycation is on the cards for your next break, Harriet from Toby & Roo has got some popping ideas to keep those daydreams within reach.
