Now that Christmas is over, it’s rather nice to have a little look back at a few of the festive trips which were taken within the blogging community during December. Susanna (A Modern Mother) spent a fabulous weekend at the Legoland Windsor Resort Hotel. It’s worth keeping this in mind for a family treat next Christmas as children get to make Lego decorations, meet Santa and decorate cookies.
Emma from A Bavarian Sojourn made the most of living in Munich by trying out all of the Christmas markets. Thank you, Emma, for sampling the Glühwein in every market to ensure a thorough review for your readers: Seasonal Shopping – Munich’s Christmas Markets.
Also sampling the warming alcohol were Sue and her family (Simply a Mummy) who took a trip to see the Christmas market in Hamburg and had a wonderful time buying special baubles and watching Santa fly over the market. : My Very Merry Christmas Travels.
Traditionally January is the month when we all start thinking about booking our summer holidays. Adverts bombard our screens with suggestions and we have to decide whether to book early to nab the free child places or hold off and hope for a late bargain. This time last year I was very organised and was busily planning our fly-drive to Sweden. This year I have no idea where I fancy going so am looking for inspiration.
While I’m dithering about the summer, a city break at half-term might be worth considering. Kelloggsville has just returned from Paris and was able to see the Eiffel tower from her hotel bedroom. She also picked the perfect time to climb the tower; just as the sun was setting so she could see the views both in the light and in the dark as she ascended: Climbing the Eiffel Tower.
Or maybe I should grasp the nettle and try skiing? Not sure this is likely to happen as my husband has never quite recovered from damaging his knee on his first and only session on the slopes in Scotland many years ago. Our son had a skiing trip with the school a couple of years ago and doesn’t seem that fussed about doing it again either. It wasn’t too late for Lisa at 40s Chic to get the skiing bug. Lisa and her family travelled to the Austrian resort of Saalbach Hinterglemm, where she took to the slopes for the first time: Skiing for Beginners.
Although we visited Disneyland Paris when my son Rory was a little boy, we haven’t been to the American resorts. Jennifer, from Jennifer’s Little World, has written a number of very informative posts about her family trip to Disneyworld, Florida. Have a look at this one: Our Brilliant Orlando Holiday.
Finally I have chosen a very poignant post from Vegemitevix. Having brought her children to the UK from New Zealand four years ago in order to be with the man she loves, Vicki, her Englishman and family have decided to return to Auckland. If we think it’s tough organising things for a fortnight’s holiday in the sun, just imagine the stress and upheaval involved in this family trip. Sending much love and hoping it all goes well now you’re Back from Outer Space.
I will be on the lookout for posts in the next few weeks to add to the next round-up at the beginning of February. Let me know if you post anything travel-related during January (@mumsgoneto). If I missed a December travel post, pop it in the linky below and I’ll come and have a read.
