Pinterest: Summer fun in the great outdoors

Pinterest 800x400It’s unusual for the UK to be basking in hot weather for this long, so outside living has become the norm for many British families this Summer. It’s been a great time to be on maternity leave, I can tell you! We’ve spent nearly everyday outside finding activities to do while keeping out of the midday sun. One activity we’ve got really stuck into is looking for butterflies and insects. Therefore for August’s Pinterest round-up I’ve been searching for pins on Summer fun in the great outdoors.

Nature Fun

Being an outdoorsy girl the living world around us has always fascinated me from a young child, so I’m starting off looking at pins featuring nature fun. First up is Jane’s Summer scavenger hunt activity from over at Hodge Podge Days. Her pin is a fantastic activity page you can just print off. I love the addition of a field notes section. Next up is Cubkit Emma’s simplistic pin, but very effective in sharing with us it’s purpose. In this case 10 Nature Activities for Children.

To keep out of the sun, taking a trip to the woods is a fun activity in the great outdoors. Which Jemma from Thimble and Twig does with her little ones. Her pin on 24 Things to do on a Woodland Walk is full of ideas and inspiration. You can see all their makes on the pin, my favourite being the leaf crown.

Garden Fun

Thinking up ideas for kids to do outside in the garden can be a huge amount of fun. I think my favourite I’ve seen this year is Water Pistol Painting from Louise over at Messy Little Monster. Her pin shows us how much fun this type of painting with kids can be. Rachel from Kids, Cuddles and Muddy Puddles shares her pin on Easy Birdfeeders to make with Children. Rachel’s pin shows a finished make she has done, above the text and her blog name. Her brand colour of green makes all her pins recognisable as her’s, if you are trawling through Pinterest.

Finally I’m mentioning Helen’s pin from Treasure Every Moment. The Summer holidays are long, therefore if you need lots of activities to keep your kids busy and entertained for those weeks, you really need the Ultimate List of Fun Garden Activities from Helen’s pin. Her pin gives you a hint of what’s to come, and makes you want to click through. Where you will find an amazing list of 50 activities. My favourite being flower pressing.
