Baking: Father’s Day-inspired bakes

Julie from Julie’s Family Kitchen has pulled together a fantastic selection of recipes from top food bloggers, to get you inspired to bake something for Dad this upcoming Father’s Day. Get ready to treat your father figure this week! (This article has been updated from a previously published version. For more information, see the end of the post.)

The Free From Fairy has created a superb looking Gluten Free, Dairy Free Victoria Sponge, making this classic cake suitable for coeliacs and those with an intolerance to gluten.

Impress Dad with your creative baking skills by baking this Surprise Inside Carrot Cake from A Strong Coffee, perfect if Dad is a keen gardener too.

Why not get the kids involved in baking something special like these super cute Garden Bug Cupcakes from Eats Amazing. If gardening is not his thing then I sure this fun Easy Batman Cake from The Mummy Sphere will be a hit with all the family.

I love rhubarb and I have fond memories of my grandad growing it in his back garden. As a child I only really ever had rhubarb in a crumble. Yet there are so many other creative ways of cooking and baking with this versatile ingredient. Lost in Food has created a sublime looking Rhubarb & Ginger Clafoutis and Only Crumbs Remain has made these truly delightful Rhubarb & Strawberry Meringue Cupcakes .

If you’re still after more rhubarb inspiration then look no further than at Cook Sister‘s heavenly White Chocolate Cheesecake with Rhubarb.

If Dad is not a rhubarb fan then maybe he might be tempted with this show stopping Double Chocolate Pavlova with Nutella Cream & Maltesers from Jo’s Kitchen Larder. Or these yummy Lemon & Elderflower Curd Cupcakes from Fab Food 4 All.

It doesn’t have to be all about the sweet stuff, savoury bakes are great for sharing especially on a picnic. These flavour filled Sun-dried Tomato and Pesto Savoury Muffins from Family Friends Food are perfectly portable picnic food. Or if you’re dining in, this delicious Leek and Bacon Macaroni Cheese from Easy Peasy Foodie should wow Dad and the rest of the family too.

There are some pretty awesome baking recipes here. Thank you to everyone that submitted their recipes, sorry I can’t feature them all.  Next month the theme for the Baking Round-up is Summer recipes. I’m looking for sweet cakes and savoury bakes. Recipes suitable for picnics and summer fairs whilst making the most of the summer season produce. Add your recipes to the linky below or email me at julie@juliesfamilykitchen.com with BritMums Baking Round-up in the title. I can’t wait to see your bakes.
