Family Days Out Round-up: February frolics

Hello and welcome to the latest family days out round-up. Half term has started here and we started the week long break as we mean to go on – getting out and about for some adventure.

February can be a bit hit and miss weather wise and living down south, we have seen more than our fair share of rain whilst the rest of the country has been blessed with snow, with even our friends at Coombe Mill getting some, even if it didn’t hang around for long.

Mum turned Mom made the most of the ‘bomb cyclone’ and got out and about in the snow with her daughter building snowmen and snow painting, Susan K Mann had a blast with her three, whizzing around on sledges, Two Tiny Hands appreciated the beauty of it from the safety of a warm railway carriage on the East Lancashire Railway and Kids of the Wild enjoyed snow fires and sledging.

The Highway Rat was a big hit for us over Christmas and like other Julia Donaldson tails before it, has been turned into an interactive trail by the Forestry Commission. We checked out the Highway Rat Trail at Moors Valley whilst Mummysphere headed to Wendover Woods and Battle Mum was hunting for the Gruffalo at Mountain View Ranch.

This time of year is perfect for snowdrop spotting and Over40MumtoOne found some at Stowe, whilst the Ladybirds Adventures spotted other delights growing at Quarry Bank Mill. My Boys Club took her crew for a riverside walk in Durham, Queer Little Family enjoyed a day out in Coventry and Renovation Bay-Bee found a fab new play area for the kids in Alver Valley.

Wildlife parks have been a popular destination this month, with Tin Box Traveller enjoying Longleat in the Rain, Cups of Charlotte headed to Yorkshire Wildlife Park with her little one, Mummy Em celebrating her daughter’s birthday at Willow’s Farm and North East Family Fun had fun at Northumberland Country Zoo.

Museum’s are a great place to visit if the weather playing ball and we headed for Dorset County Museum to see Dippy on Tour. Truly, Madly, Kids explored the London Mithraeum, Cups of Charlotte had a blast at Eureka! National Children’s Museum, Bubbablue and Me had a spontaneous visit to Think Tank Birmingham and Scots 2 Travel met a real life Viking at Vikingar in Largs, Scotland.

Hope you all have a great half term, I cannot wait to find out what you got up to in the next round-up.
