Mums & Tots Round-up: Throwing an amazing birthday party

I managed to have all of my children within a few short months of each other, meaning I have to plan and organise 3 separate birthday parties every single year. Not easy when you have everything else to do on a day to day basis.

From grand parties for the whole of nursery to small tea parties for immediate family, I have done them all.

If you are starting to think about birthdays coming up and need some inspiration for a theme or ideas to get it done on a budget, then look no further…

Party themes

Garden party: Scandi Mummy has a lovely idea for little ones who love In The Night Garden.

Soft play: An all inclusive party package is always a popular choice! Let someone else clear up the mess! The Less-Refined Mind shares her party.

Pirate: The Twinkle Diaries shares a fab pirate theme for her twin boys. Ah haaaaaaarrrrr.

Construction: One for those who love diggers – great idea here from Thimble and Twig – I love the cake!

Star wars: A popular movie idea – another great idea from Thimble and Twig.

Super Mario Bros: I used to love playing this as a child – great idea for Nintendo fans from Elizabeth’s Kitchen Diary

Dinosaurs: This would be a hit with all three of mine – dinosaur fun from Family Friends Food

Moana: I saw this earlier this year and it looked so much fun! Perfect for any Moana or Maui fan from New Young Mum

Farmyard: Adventures and play have a great resource for a farmyard theme. With recipes for sweet treats, piggie food ideas and chicks, sheep and ducks too!

Throwing a party can be an expensive task, can’t it? Thankfully Mummy In A Tutu has some great ways to get the party done on a budget. Family Fever also has some great tips – I like the idea of making your own invitations and we have done that for Gracie’s party in a few weeks.

I know quite a few children with allergies and always make sure I cater for them at parties. These dairy & soya free biscuits from Make Do & Push are perfect for making them feel included.

Have you got any parties coming up? What theme are you going with or are you keeping it simple with a cake and a few party games?

Next month I am going to be putting together autumn activity ideas ahead of October half term. If you have anything to share then pop me an email to
