You might agree that the perception of girls playing football is still considered as something a bit strange. My dad used to love playing football and I grew up joining him on the pitch many times. I used to love it, but back then it was really odd and maybe impossible for me to take part in this lovely sport as there were not any women football clubs for me to join.
Luckily the situation has changed, and if girls decide that playing football is what they want to do, it is not impossible and there are more and more clubs offering this chance to girls and women these days.
My husband has been a huge Arsenal supporter for so many years, actually as long as I have known him, and both our girls are also football lovers, especially our 10-year-old Isabelle. She often kicks the ball with daddy, and also had a few lessons at school, and really likes it.
Who knows maybe she will join a club and play it professionally one day? I think that would be her dad’s dream come true. Her on the Arsenal pitch!
SSE Women’s FA Cup Final
Anyway, why am I talking about football? BritMums has been working with the FA on a campaign to promote girls and football. I think it is a brilliant idea, and would love to draw your attention to a few bloggers who have written posts that encourage sport and movement in young people.
