Video Round-up: Home & away

Welcome back to the Britmums monthly Video Round-Up. How can it be March already? Aren’t the first signs of Spring just so very welcome too? Just so wonderful to be able to get outside that little bit more without so many layers! I even managed to have my coffee outside at the weekend. Pure bliss. Anyway, as mentioned in February’s Round-Up, I wanted to bring you a selection of videos of holiday inspiration for you. I imagine many of you are beginning to think about a week away in the summer. Well, look no further, as I have an excellent selection for you from some fantastic vloggers to whet your appetite.

Firstly, for some inspiration closer to home you must check out Hayley Challinor’s trip to North Wales where they visit Snowdonia with a toddler and a baby in tow. The scenery is breathtaking and the coastline just spectacular. I’m thinking that I may book to go here at Easter with my three as it is always something my husband and I have wanted to do. You were so lucky with the weather too!

Next up is a review by Caroline Magovern of the accommodation of Butlins in Minehead. I was so surprised at just how spacious it was and the balcony with the view over the lake is so worth a look. I bet you had a great stay there, Caroline. For anyone considering a trip to Butlins, this is so worth a look.

For more inspiration for a trip within the UK, Chloe Bridge has a great video from her travels to Bristol and Devon. Despite the rainy weather (it was February half term), Chloe shows just how great it is to get the children out and exploring. The Devon coastline is beautiful. I spent many a childhood there and it looks like your children had great fun playing on the rocks and throwing stones in the water. Hours of entertainment right there. And, as you say, just wonderful to take an impromptu trip for a few days.

Emily Leary brings a great video to the round-up, filmed by her children, from their forest break. Interestingly, according to research that Emily highlights, children are increasingly involved in holiday choices so it was wonderful to see their video take on it too. This video will appeal to all children. There’s cycling, tree climbing, bowling, pottery painting and pony trekking, as well as lots of great food! Well worth a look for those with energetic children. This trip will tire them out!

This video from Kerry Conway, documenting their trip to Bluestone is well worth watching. I’m a little biased as have wanted to visit here for many years but never got around to it. I think this video may well be the push I need and will certainly be showing my husband to help persuade him. Thank you, Kerry! Your daughter’s excitement about the holiday speaks volumes and the scenery was just beautiful.

Now, I couldn’t possibly have a break away round-up without featuring our wonderful Capital. Both Lisa Hodson and Sian Russell bring great videos of their breaks in London. Still, one of my favourite places to visit and take a break. Lisa’s trip takes in trips on the Thames, a bus tour through the Capital and the underground too. A real variety of transport! Lisa, your children’s faces say it all. Sheer enjoyment! Sian’s video shows us time spent taking in many of the landmarks as well as the street acts. I love standing and watching these acts along the Southbank and in Covent Garden. So entertaining! And your trip on the London Eye at night was something so special. What a spectacular city!

Erin Ek, shows us a beautiful trip to the historic town of Helmsley where they stay in the most beautiful cottage. Simply stunning with beautiful views of a castle. There is also a brewery next door. I don’t think I’d have any problem convincing my husband to book going here!

For something a little further afield, Emily Peacock, brings us a taster of her familymoon to the Sensatori resort in Crete. I’ve heard so many great things about the Sensatori resorts and this video does not disappoint. Beautiful location, beautiful weather, beautiful food, beautiful scenery. It’s all rather beautiful! What a truly fantastic time you had!

For a trip with a beautiful ending, you must watch this from Eilidh Gallagher of her trip to Nice. What a beautiful part of the world? I won’t spoil it for you but so worth a watch!

Saskia Cartwright shows us some breathtaking scenery and quite terrifying shots from her short video incorporating trips from sun, sea and snow. Some of those scenes literally made me gasp. Especially the bridge scene overlooking the water below! Thank you for sharing with us.

Thank you to everyone for sharing their videos with me. I hope that I’ve given those watching some inspiration for their travels this year. I’m certainly adding several new places to my list! It leaves me just to wish you all a great month and for the next month I’ll be doing a round-up of days out in the UK so please email me your suggestions at helen@justsayingmum.com for consideration.

About Helen Sandle

Hi, I’m Helen and mum to two teenage daughters and one teenage son and am married to a very handsome man! I blog at www.justsayingmum.com mainly about the musings of raising three teens which, as I’m sure you can imagine, comes with plenty of stories! I have also started vlogging about teens issues and all these vlogs are either with my children themselves chatting about various relevant issues to being a teen or with the fabulous Sarah and Jayne who are talking therapists who specialise in teens so we have lots of fun talking about very real parenting teen issues!
