Baking Round-up: Mother’s Day bakes

Hello and welcome to the March edition of the baking round-up.

This weekend families will be celebrating mother’s day. Being a mum is hard work and tiring but the most rewarding thing ever. On mother’s day it is a time to show mums everywhere how special and appreciated they are. What better way to show mum how special she is than with a cake!

I have been searching through some of the countries best food blogs to bring you some bakes that will certainly please your mum this mother’s day. With this selection of treats you are bound to find the perfect bake.

Lemon cake is always a winner and this Lemon Cake with Lemon Curd Buttercream from A Strong Coffee is no exception. The combination of buttercream with the lemon curd gives this cake the perfect finish.

Muesli adds an extra texture to a cake as well as added goodness. This Swiss Style Muesli Cake from Hijacked By Twins combines muesli with coconut oil to create this showstopping cake. Topped with fresh cream and berries nobody will be able to resist.

Back to another lemon cake. This beautifully presented Lemon Drizzle Layer Cake from Baking Queen 74 is three layers of decadent lemon cake, sandwiched together with Chantilly cream, covered with a white chocolate ganache and topped with lemon and lime zest.

Cheesecake is another favourite and one that contains Bailey’s is a winner in my book. This Bailey’s Cheesecake from Glutarama not only looks and sounds like a divine dessert but is also gluten-free. A perfect after dinner treat!

The following recipe is technically not a bake but is a dessert that is one of my favourites. These individual Fruity Mini Cheesecakes from The Intolerant Gourmand are a great make ahead dessert. Make in advance and enjoy even more time with your mum!

The following cupcakes will give mum an extra surprise when she bites into these elegant little treats. Charlotte’s Lively Kitchen shows us how to create these Hidden Heart Cupcakes. What better way to show mum how loved she is than with a heart cupcake!

Only Crumbs Remain will leave you astounded at these delectable Dozen Apple Roses. The intricate detail on these apple delights will keep your mum stunned by how you have made them. The extra time and care needed will be well worth the effort.

The final bake this month are these beautifully decorated Marshmallow Flower Cupcakes from Searching For Spice. These simple yet effective cupcakes look so pretty as well as being undoubtably scrumptious! Give me edible flowers any day!

I hope that these eight decadent bakes have given you plenty of inspiration for mother’s day.

I will be back next month with a round-up all about Easter and spring inspired bakes. If you have a post that you would like me to consider including in the round-up either add it to the linky on my BritMums round-up page or email me at
