Fitness Round-up: Keep fit & be happy

I am so excited to reveal the latest addition to the fabulous BritMums round-ups, the inspirational Fitness Round-up, which I am the editor of.

You might know me as the blogger behind the multi-awards nominated lifestyle blog All Baby Advice that has been around for more than 7 years. Last year I also launched Fitness 4 Mamas blog where I share my personal journey to happiness via keeping fit and healthy.

After being live for just over a few months, Fitness 4 Mamas was nominated as one of five finalists for “Best Health & Fitness Blogger 2015” by Bloggers’ lounge, which was a lovely surprise for me. I am very passionate about keeping fit and healthy, but also about helping other women to do the same by leading an example. Now you know the basics about me, and let me introduce you to the fitness oriented posts I would like to share with you this month. 

We all know how hard it can be to get back into any fitness routines after having children, but it’s not impossible. Check out the drive and determination of Nadine in this post about Summer Body Made in Winter!

Skipping is one of things that not many will consider as an adult sport, but you would be surprised about all the benefits it has! Skip to Get Fit and get your children involved too.

As a keen runner I really found a post about 3 Ways to Improve Your Bone Health very useful. I am over 40, and according to Vanessa, we do need to take supplements as after turning 35 our bones lose their density and can lead to osteoporosis.

Some people fall of the fitness wagon, but then manage to get back on it. Sometimes it’s also easier by starting with simple things like swapping sandwiches for much healthier options. Having a Fitness Wishlist can also help you get motivated and keep fit!

Would you believe that even personal trainers from time to time need to get motivated? Keep it Simpelle shared her views on the Goalify app which has been created to help us Reach Our Goals and be More Consistent. I personally love using fitness apps and find them very motivating. You just need to try a few and find the right one for you.

One thing I always suggest when other mums ask me how to get back into exercising is to try a few different classes if you don’t already have a favourite type of workout. I personally love spinning, but also know that it is a hard-core workout which I would not suggest to start with. I like the way One Frazzled Mum has been trying a few different classes, and apparently her kitchen is her workout area these days. 

Many people love running, and I have to admit that it is my most favourite way to exercise. Running is not only the way how I keep fit, but also a way of relaxation for me. If you are getting serious about running, you will appreciate the 5 Tips to Improve Your Running Posture.

I am a great believer in encouraging fitness by leading an example, and Sarah from Mum of Three World definitely is doing exactly that. Read about her and her family’s Parkrun Triums and get inspired.

My 8-year-old daughter Isabelle says she wants to be like me ( which brings tears in my eyes), and loves running. Not long before I ran my 3rd marathon, the Venice Marathon in October 2015, we ran the Race for Life 5km race in Cassiobury Park in Watford. It was our first race together, an amazing experience and cannot wait for the next race.
