The wonderful, talented Geek Mummy won the video category this year at the BritMums Brilliance in Blogging Awards. She has always been ever so generous with her expertise and time, I’m certainly not technical when it comes to making video and Ruth is always one to show others how it is done and to help them learn, whilst making fabulous videos herself.
This month I asked each of the finalists for their favourite video, so here is is, the best of the BIBS: Video!
Geek Mummy wanted to share this one featuring geekson, she says she has a soft spot for it and I am sure you can see why. It has lovely graphics, titles, beautifully framed shot and natural presentation, but it also has soul, I won’t spoil it, go see for yourself.
Vicki at Honest Mum has disappeared to Portugal for the week, when this appears she’ll be back, but in her absence, GeekMummy and I rifled her blog and found this one. Tough call as I love Papa G’s recipe vlogs, but if you’re looking for vlogging tips from a professional film-maker, this is what you need.
Victoria at Verily Victoria Vocalises nominated her first ever vlog, but I have already featured it, so instead she wanted to share this fabulous interview with Grace. I absolutely insist, even if you film nothing else of your kids, that you to film a Q and A with them, perhaps on a yearly basis? Hysterical. Ends on a wonderful note too.
Renata at Just bring the Chocolate nominated A very special story which, judging from the social shares it received, has already gone a long way to raising awareness about tube feeding. I was transfixed watching Renata’s son Dominic’s story come to life in titles and pictures, he is one cool kid. I love the use of music too.
Nadine at Juggle Mum was torn, between two videos, but I love the one she has chosen. Go and drop in on the Juggle Mum house, you will always feel like you are right at home. If only Nadine could decide what to wear for Britmums, now I’m sure lots of us can relate to that dilemma!
Finally, me, Penny at Alexander Residence. Well my absolute favourite has to come from Comic Relief. The whole journey from Ghana through to fundraising and Red Nose Day gave me such vlog fodder. The other bloggers I collaborated with also gave me masses of creative inspiration and I wanted to include as many of them as I could, so here we are climbing Snowdon.
I also met the lovely Nigel who ran a making video with your smartphone session at BritMums Live. I’m looking forward to reading his book and delving more into his blog The Video Effect which is full of tips. If you missed Nigel at BritMums Live or need a refresher check out this video on how to make a video with your smartphone.
Congratulations to all my co-finalists and another huge cheer for Geek Mummy! Vlog on!
