I would like to start the July Foodie Round-up by wishing this year’s Foodie BiB winner a huge congratulations! Lucy Parissi’s Supergolden Bakes is not only visually stunning, but her delicious and original recipes will ruin the will-power of the hardiest dieters – I guarantee it! Very well deserved! Two of my favourite recipes of […]
About EmmaRaphaelEmma Raphael left the UK for Copenhagen in 2009, with her ever-patient husband and two small children. Having enjoyed a couple of years in Scandinavia, Emma and her family found they enjoyed Expat life so much that they now reside in Munich – where the pace of life is relaxed, her language skills are small, and the mountains and bier halls are very large. Being one half of a self-proclaimed foodie couple, Emma enjoys the new produce and restaurants in each new country she resides in, and has made it her mission to convince people that English food no longer deserves the bad rap it once had. She can be found in the kitchen when she’s feeling homesick, trying to recreate comfort food from home. She also has huge passions for travel, photography, art, wine, gardening (although according to her Bavarian neighbours, she’s not much good at that!) and her family (of course)!
With June already in full swing, it’s going to be an exciting month. Not only does it promise plenty of summer sunshine (fingers crossed!), but the world is waiting for the Football World Cup to start, and of course we have BritMums Live just around the corner!! Congratulations to those Food Bloggers that made the […]
1. The Colosseum. What visit to Rome would be complete without seeing this? Your mini-gladiators will love it and all of its 2000 year old gory history! Hire an audio phone to find out exactly what it is you are looking at whilst you are wandering, or go on a tour with an Arena Guide (this […]
So that’s it – the short lists for this year’s BiB’s are now well and truly out in the ether! At this point in time you have three days (yes, three days!!) left to place your all important votes for those you wish to see in the finals if you haven’t already done so!… […]
Be Warned! - As you might expect, chocolate features heavily in this special edition Easter Foodie Round Up – there’s a lot of it about right now! Of course in this part of the world, consumers also go hopping mad for traditional Easter sweet treats – in Hare form – for there is no Easter Bunny here, […]
A big thank you to those that left fabulous Italian recipes on last month’s linky, what a great selection of dishes! I love being able to include as many of you as possible each month, so please do keep joining in! I like to think that I conducted my own special research for this month’s […]
“One cannot think well, love well, sleep well, if one has not dined well.” ―Virginia Woolf A quote that I couldn’t agree with more! If you are one of those very people that hasn’t dined well recently, and are perhaps in need of something overly indulgent then read on. Or if you are on […]
Well it’s day 12 of 2014 in the Raphael household, and you will find the house-mates are already struggling to continue with many a healthy eating resolution, as well as trying to comprehend how on earth it’s almost the middle of the month already!! I imagine we are not the only ones going through this […]
It’s that time again – the ski slopes of Europe and beyond are well and truly covered with snow, and are ready and waiting for you to get your skis on. So whether you cannot wait to get back on the piste, or if 2014 is the first time you will ski together as a […]
Having come from a country slightly obsessed with Christmas, it seems that the further two countries we’ve chosen to live in since the UK, might have even more of a problem. Here in Munich, Christmas Market season is in full swing, with stalls piled high with seasonal goodies – proving that Christmas isn’t Christmas without […]
I can kind of say I was vegetarian in my “yoof”. Not that I did it properly you understand – I think I existed purely on a diet of soya Bolognese, salad, and monster munch sandwiches for a couple of years. It was just a “phase” according to my paternal grandmother, who used to loudly […]
Someone once said “it is only the farmer who faithfully plants seeds in the Spring, who reaps a harvest in Autumn” – well judging by the amount of linky entries in last month’s Foodie Round Up, we have a lot of green fingered people in this community!! I love this season, and everything about it – […]
Behold the humble scone, the pinnacle of any decent English afternoon tea (but what goes first, the cream or the jam?). Having lost its appeal slightly over recent years, afternoon tea is back in a big way, especially thanks to shows such as The Great British Bake Off. Leisurely afternoons appreciating cakes, sandwiches and complicated […]
The Brit Mums 2013 Food Blogging Session took place directly after lunch (quite appropriately), and was chaired by the inimitable Kerstin Rodgers of Ms Marmite Lover. Kerstin was joined by the font of all wine knowledge Helen McGinn of Knackered Mother’s Wine Club, the incredibly creative Jeanne Horack Druiff from Cook Sister, and Emma Raphael […]
I think as a nation, we are pretty good at Music Festivals. Indeed we are home to some of the biggest and the oldest (still in existence) in the World (Reading, my old favourite!), and definitely some of the most famous. But something huge has changed – Festival food. No longer are Festival goers happy […]
June has been and gone in what seems like the blink of an eye. Typically known for being the “flaming” month that contains the longest day of the year, it is usually hot enough that to make us lose our appetites for anything but salad, well that’s often the case for me anyway. But June […]
Somebody somewhere decided that next week (from the 17th to the 23rd June to be precise) will be National Picnic week in the UK. Of course, because it has now been proclaimed as such, it will mean that sods law will dictate that it will most probably rain. But being British and all, we are used […]
I read somewhere recently that the latest thing to do in Paris is “Le Drunch” – a strange name for a combined lunch/dinner… It sounds much more appealing perhaps once you know what it is! After all, what’s not to like about the idea of a long leisurely lunch spilling over into dinner and […]
