About Amie Shearer

At 24, Amie and her Other Half found themselves unexpectedly expecting. She began blogging about their experience to start to come to terms with and celebrate this unexpected fork in the road. It's been a rollercoaster and three years on, they're still finding their feet, but so far, it's been one hell of a ride. Amie works full time at a London marketing agency and blogs on the side, 'just for kicks'. She's pitifully addicted to social media and Netflix, loves red lipstick and chocolate cake and suffers from toddler-induced-coffee-dependence. Instagram is her happy place. Find Amie on Twitter and Instagram: @findingourfeet.

Under 30 Parents Round-up: Defying the odds as a student parent

Hello and welcome back to the U30s Round-Up! Amie and Hannah (your hosts) took a couple of months off to reassess what the U30s community really wanted and needed from this Round-up and we hope you agree we’ve come up with a winning formula.  Each month, we’ll be featuring a different member of the community, […]

Under 30 Parents Round-up: Love is in the air… ish…

Valentine’s Day. Whether you’re single, hitched, or are Cupid incarnate, there’s no denying that everyone’s minds seem to turn to the topic of lurve come February.  But it’s safe to say that relationships are no walk in the park after the pitter patter of tiny feet…  About the only similar thread between the posts I […]

Under 30s Parents Round-up: Parenthood is better with friends

Last month I read a beautifully written post by Kaye (Hello Archie & Blue) titled, To My Friends Without Kids. I’m sorry. I’m sorry it’s been 6 months since I last messaged you. I’m sorry I missed the hen do’s and the housewarmings and the birthday parties. Here’s the thing. I know, I know, you’re […]

Under 30 Parents Round-up: Falling into autumn

As the breeze starts to blow ever so slightly cooler, the evenings grow darker that bit earlier and jumpers start to reappear in our wardrobes, it can only mean one thing. Autumn has arrived.  And it seems the Under 30s community is embracing the new season with open arms, wellies in one hand and pumpkins in […]

Under 30 Parents Round-up: A slice of life

This month, rather than sharing the best writing the Under 30 community has to offer, I thought we’d take a look at their lives through the lens.  It was incredibly hard to choose who to feature this month. The calibre of Instagram feeds out there is, quite frankly, insane, and clearly this is a hugely popular […]

Under 30 Parents Round-up: Careers, parenthood & balance

It’s no secret that whether you’re at home on the front line 24/7 or juggling a career with the full-time parent gig, it’s bloody hard and wonderfully rewarding in equal measures.  When I asked fellow bloggers to send through posts on the subject of balancing careers with parenthood for this month’s round-up, I was pretty much blown away […]

Under 30 Parents Round-up: Age is but a number

Two weeks ago, we were sat around a table at #BML16 chatting about life as a parent under 30. Thank you to everyone who joined us – I know the Under 30s session clashed with some pretty awesome sessions from Facebook Live and Snapchat to supercharging your Instagram.  It was great to put some faces to blogs, some […]

Under 30 Parents Round-up: Being different

After last month’s Round-up, Beyond the Stereotype, many of you got in touch with posts on how being a younger parent seems to not only allow but in some cases even encourage people to treat you differently.  From snooty mums at coffee mornings to overbearing doctors assuming you’re not up to the job, younger parents seem to have it […]

Under 30 Parents Round-up: Beyond the stereotype

In 1959, at age 20, my grandma got married and gave birth to my mum one year later. Shortly after, my other grandma, at the ripe old age of 34, gave birth to my dad and, believe it or not, was placed in a special ward for ‘more senior first-time-mothers’. But times have changed somewhat […]
