As the demand for authentic and useful travel information explodes in a digital world, Britain’s most influential family travel bloggers have joined forces to create a professional travel blogging and social media “supergroup”.

The Family Travel Perspective group has been created by BritMums, the UK’s largest parent blogging network, the social and digital editorial consultancy Travel Perspective, and leading British bloggers and journalists.

The founders’ knowledge of travel journalism in print, digital and social media is the starting point for the network, a group of leading bloggers handpicked for their creativity, professionalism and influence.

Follow the group via #familytravelperspective on Twitter.

Founder members include:

Trish Burgess, Mum's Gone ToTrish Burgess, Mum’s Gone To – Mum’s Gone To began with ‘Mum’s Gone to Iceland’ in 2007 and since then she’s gone from Canada to Cyprus, Barcelona to Berlin, London to Lake Garda. Originally from Newcastle upon Tyne, Trish read Geography at Emmanuel College, Cambridge, although I have a poor sense of direction and her map-reading skills are woeful. She now lives in South Lincolnshire with her GP husband, Dougie. Their son Rory and is now at university. She is editor of the monthly travel round-ups for BritMums and won the travel category at the Brilliance in Blogging Awards in 2012. She has spoken twice on the travel panel at the annual BritMums Live conference, in 2014 alongside Simon Calder, travel editor of The Independent. Since February 2014 she has written a weekly column, Trish Takes Five, for the Lincolnshire Free Press.

Sarah EbnerSarah Ebner, Family Travel Times – Family Travel Times is a whole family blog, which means it’s written by all four members of Sarah’s family: Sarah (a journalist), Brian (not a journalist) and the children, Jess and Robert. They have visited some wonderful places, both on day trips and for longer periods of time, at home in the UK and beyond. The blog, featuring text, pictures and video including ones featuring the children reviewing their favourite bits of travel, aims to inspire families to travel more.

Jennifer HowzeJennifer Howze, BritMums and Jenography.net – Jennifer is a journalist, blogger and co-founder of BritMums, the UK’s largest parent blogging collective and BritMums Live, the UK’s largest blogging conference. Previously she worked as The Times Online Lifestyle Editor and Alpha Mummy blogger. A 20-year journalism veteran, Jennifer has contributed to a range of publications, including The Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Guardian, The Independent, Travel+Leisure, and many Conde Nast publications. She contributed to the book ‘Standing Up to Supernanny’ and Frommer’s Budget Travel Secret Hotels of Cornwall, and in 2006 Planned Parenthood awarded her a Maggie for a health writing.

markfraryMark Frary, Travelling With The Kids – The Frary family of five lives in Ampthill in Bedfordshire. Their eldest daughter is into art, Wolfblood, horses and sweets. Their eldest son likes Lego, football, rugby, video games and sweets. The latest addition is a boy who is just getting used to walking and likes playing with doors, remote controls and sweets. The town sweet shop recently moved to be closer to our house. Clare – or Mum – works with the internet for a telecoms company and likes music, having fun times with the kids and food. Mark – aka Dad – is a nuclear physicist turned travel writer. The family moved to Ampthill in 2006 from London knowing no one and not sure of what to expect. It has turned out to be perfect for them and a perfect base for travelling, which they do every chance they get.

Selena JonesSelena Jones, Oh the Places We Will Go – Selena is an American expat living in London, and is not your typical, adventurous travel blogger. She’s way over 40, hates carrying a backpack, doesn’t own a pair of hiking boots, binoculars or an Outback hat.  You will never catch her rock-climbing, bungee-jumping or sky-diving. She refuses to do anything that involves a harness and a waiver. But, she is a traveler and a blogger. Her other half is Matthew, aka The Englishman. He’s the real traveller in the family with over 100 countries under his belt. (He even owns an Outback hat.) They met at a Texas wedding in October of 2010, where his pick up line was “So, I hear your an auditor?” When she asked what he did, his response was “action-adventure accountant.” Between that and his dancing (have you ever seen an Englishman dance?), she was immediately smitten and they were married three months later. (When you know, you know).  On their first anniversary, they packed up and moved to London and that’s when she started her blog. And that’s the reason she’s now exploring the world outside of her comfort zone. She’s always loved to travel, but Matthew has helped her to nurture that love into a full-blown addiction.
