No matter who won the awards, I think it’s fair to say that the talent in the categories is so high, I really don’t know how the judges chose between them!
This category always makes me feel excited, these bloggers are new, eager and fresh, ready to give their perspective.
Celine from Bell from Bow has written so many stellar articles already, and this post titled Why I’m Redefining Having It All really stood out for me having written about and advocating women having our own version of success.
I love food and one of my favourite memories from BritMums Live 2015 was of sitting with a gaggle of bloggers eating a pulled pork burger in All Bar One in Shoreditch. Many a happy memory for me has a food association somewhere.
I love reading food blogs and, more importantly, taking in the the incredible images. Seeing how creative people can be with an ingredient really inspires me.
I’ve chosen Aby from You Baby Me Mummy as I have found her free blogging resources so helpful.
There are soooo many social media related posts that it was hard to choose just one. Currently, I’m thinking alot about what content I want to put on my blog. So this post titled 17 types of blog posts you must have + free checklist really helped me see what readers find interesting.
Big bright images that tell a story. We all love them!
Not every blogger is a natural photographer though, for most it takes years of practice and training (I am not including myself in this, just see my blog full of photo’s taken on my phone).
I have loved watching Kaye from Hello Archie grow in the natural gift she has for photography. Her latest post The last of summer and a catch-up is stunning, the images really took me along with their day. It inspired me to take the kids to our local National Trust place over the weekend.
I have enjoyed watching Katie Ellison’s videos from Mummy Daddy Me recently. I have such a funny relationship with travel, in that I think I WANT to travel the world with children and yet the realities of it scare me somewhat and hold us back.
What I love about Katie’s videos, is that they are real and honest. She makes me feel like it’s ok to choose the quieter town than the main tourist attraction itself. Travelling with little ones isn’t easy and Katie doesn’t sugar coat and shows the real deal in a sunny way.
In this video about their trip to LA, for example, she showed the story behind the pink wall photo (which is stunning btw) and the fact so many other people were there doing the same thing made me giggle. I like that she shows the ‘behind the scenes story’ on this video.
Loved, loved, loved this post titled Why The National Trust is the Ultimate Guide to the Lake District by Travel BiBs finalist My Travel Monkey. We are BIG National Trust fans and think they do a sterling job of taking care of our heritage.
We also feel honoured to have so many NT places here in Somerset and I can’t wait to write a guide about it soon on my blog.
Beauty & Fashion
Liza Prideaux caught my eye with her crisp and clean images and stunning blog. I love blogs with lots of white space.
The first few lines of the blog post stood out for me! “School run, home, cosy pub lunch by the fire, back to school, walk in the park with the boys, back into the car and home again…” and the fact it was about a solution to dry skin which is a present problem for me at this time of year, I related to it straight away (minus the pub!).
Arts, Crafts & Design
The Twinkles Diary is full of style and design inspiration.
A stunning blog and instead of one blog post I’ve included the PANTONE category in the Round-Up. I couldn’t choose one colour! Just a delight for the eyes.
Family & Lifestyle
I totally related to this post Overcoming the Loneliness of Motherhood by What Katy Said. I found it so positive when I read that Katy started her own group, it made me think of the saying “Be the change you want to see in the world”.
The other day I retweeted a post called We can’t all be the Taylor Swift of the blogging world by Slouching Towards Thatcham on Twitter that really resonated with me.
In fact most of what Tim writes resonates with me! We think alot of the same things about blogging.
I met Tim at BritMums Live 2015 and found him to be an incredibly decent guy. I love his writing and think him a rare talent who isn’t afraid to do things his own way.
Well that’s my Round-Up, but what do you think? Which blogs do you like to read? Were you there cheering on the finalists at #BML17?
I can’t wait to hear all of your stories. As I said, serious FOMO here. Whether you’re a nominated blog or a finalist or not, we are all content creators with much to say.
November will be back with Mich, until then, be you.
