Bumps & Babies Round-up: Introducing a new baby, milestones & a rainbow baby

I’ve loved 2017 so far and wholeheartedly jumped on the positivity/ New Resolutions bandwagon. The chance to shake off all the bad habits developed last year and start afresh.

Maternity leave ended for me a few weeks ago so it was a double new beginning. During my nine months off or “holiday” as my husband jokes (men, huh?!) I’ve loved finding new parenting blogs to follow, bookmarking them to read later during night feeds or nap times. My obsession with Instagram has doubled so I’m going to include some brilliant feeds from inspirational mamas  too. You can find me on Instagram here if you fancy a look.

Here’s a selection of blogs I’ve really enjoyed reading this month:

First up is Mummy Times Two a family blog set in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales. Victoria’s Open Letter To New Mummies is an uplifting account of entering motherhood for the first time. She also hosts a #PostsFromTheHeart linky where you can find out what people really care about in life – no matter how big or small.

If you’re looking for tips on how to introduce a new baby to toddlers check out Anita Cleare’s Thinking Parenting blog. Her post Preparing Your Child For A New Baby is great, she also suggests the best books to read toddlers during this time. I enjoyed her How To Tell Magical Stories post too as I love making up silly bedtime tales.

For any new mums wondering what weaning will be like check out The Ten Faces Of Weaning by Mumzilla. Food flying across the kitchen, hands in bowls, plates on heads, Sarah is a more chilled out mum than me. The mess babies make when learning to eat makes me so fidgety (I’m one of those annoying mums who has to stop half way through and quickly clean up!).

I absolutely love My Rainbow Baby by Mrs H’s Favourite Things. I stumbled acrossed Lucy’s blog one rainy afternoon and couldn’t stop reading. I’d never heard of a ‘rainbow baby’ before – a beautiful term used to describe the joy of a baby born following a miscarriage. Truly inspiring and full of hope. Lucy hosts a blogging series called My Rainbow Baby where other mum’s suffering loss and joy can contribute and spread love of their rainbow babies too.

My son has just turned nine-months-old so we’ve been enjoying the usual baby milestones – clapping, smiling, babbling, crawling. The Ten Alternative Milestone Cards For Babies by Whinge Whinge Wine is hilarious. From pooing in the bath to the accidental bed roll – Fran’s honest account of motherhood is very funny! And very true.

As I said earlier my love of Instagram has doubled. I follow so many inspirational and stylish mums with gorgeous feeds full of beautiful photography, cute kids and fun adventures.

A few of my favourites include:
Mummy Daddy Me
Capture By Lucy
Littlewood Life
Its All About Jessie
Betty and Barnaby
