Three BritMums bloggers — Penny from Alexander Residence, Tanya from Mummy Barrow and Annie from Mammasaurus — have travelled to Ghana to show the #goodwork that Red Nose Day is helping. Here, Tanya tells more about the project.
You know what it is like as a blogger. You get emails offering you all sorts of things. Opportunities to contact TV companies who are making the next big thing; the offer of something to review; or maybe an invite to a day out somewhere fabulous like London Zoo.
Then every now and again an email lands in your inbox that makes you actually scream out loud and forward it on to somebody else with just a “READ THIS NOW ********* “ about the body of the email.
This happened to me back in December after a meeting at Comic Relief that Annie (Mammasaurus) and I had been to about fund raising ideas for bloggers. We left the meeting with a feeling of “well they think we are quite bonkers and we will never hear from them again”.
The email simply said “When we met I think I mentioned that Red Nose Day celebrates its 25th anniversary on 5th February. This is obviously quite an exciting moment for us and we want to use this opportunity to celebrate the good work that Red Nose Day has done over this time.
We’re planning a day of live activity from Ghana on 5th February.
We thought it would be great to have some bloggers to be there as well to blog/tweet/pinterest live from there as well.
Would you be interested in this?”
It took a moment for it to sink in! But how could we refuse that sort of opportunity?! Penny from The Alexander Residence is joining us.
And so the #SecretThing is no longer a secret thing. It is all about #GoodWork. Celebrating 25 years of fund raising, highlighting where the money raised has been spent in Ghana.
Please keep an eye out for the #GoodWork as we would love you to get involved with RT’ing and joining in with the BritMums Twitter Party on Tuesday at 11 that we will join in with, live from Ghana.
Fundraising will follow too which we would love you take part in as well.
