T’was the week before Christmas,
and all through the house,
there was chaos and panic
(but luckily, no mouse!)
There is wallpaper to hang,
on the living room wall,
and paint pots piled up
in the downstairs hall.
The laundry pile is growing
at an alarming rate,
Toys are taking over …..
this house is a state.
For some reason unknown,
(I think I am mad)
A crazy idea to decorate
before Christmas, was had.
It’s all upside down.
No …. not the tree.
Just the rest of the house.
What a fun job for me.
The childrens’ excitement
is reaching it’s peak
“Father Christmas is coming,
in less than a week”
The stress levels are rising,
along with my list,
but it won’t bring me down,
nothing will be missed.
I’ll find time to go shopping,
and wrap all the presents.
And to hang up the stockings,
before Santa’s presence.
Christmas will be perfect
for my 5 little elves,
although it may not be
as good for my health.
The jobs will be finished,
and fun will be had,
And when it’s all over
I admit, I’ll be sad.
I love Christmas time,
with my family and friends.
Full of happiness and joy,
I don’t want it to end.
Cherish your loved ones,
and your time spent together
as it’s precious, and fragile,
and can’t last forever.
With that final thought,
I shall bid you farewell.
