Video Round-up: Summer’s gone, autumn inspiration

video round upWe’re moving firmly into Autumn territory, some of us more reluctantly than others, and this month’s video round up reflects that.   I spent ages making a longer video of our adventures at Camp Bestival this summer, but it was this 30 second capture, caught in a queue for the toilets (very short queue I must stress) that really defines our adventure, and makes me really smile when I watch it back.

Talking of quick captures, Jacqui at Mummy’s Little Monkey always inspires me with her short and snappy video captures, you’ve got to love life’s little pleasures right?

Summer may have left the building, but do you know looking back at holiday memories can make you happier? Charlotte from The Crumby Mummy blog made a video about her little girl’s summer which really made me smile. Coincidentally I had the pleasure of meeting ‘Bob’ at an event last week and can confirm she is just as entertaining in real life.

Liz from The Mum Blog has been capturing her travels in a more grown up fashion, it’s amazing what you can achieve without small children trying to steal the limelight or grab the camera. I love the professionalism of her video guides to Rome and Barcelona, you could be watching a television holiday show here.

Kirstie from The Family Adventure Project  introduced me to Punkt, a brilliant site which allows you to make a map of your videos.  The family’s Punkt video tour of Iceland is just awesome, with the whole family taking it in turns to present.  I have some good friends in Iceland, it really is a fascinating place. What a wonderful project and a fabulous way to get inside a country by video.

Karin at Cafe Bebe captured a day at Burley House, Linconshire and a part day at Stanwick Lakes. The videos give some helpful insights to others into visiting this attraction, whilst bottling some lovely memories for the Cafe Bebe household.

September was all about new starts for children across the country. Mari from Mari’s World captured her twins first day at school, I remember doing this last year, but looking at Mari’s video I wish I had caught more details.  Such a wonderful memory capture. Rebecca also has twins and I love the way she’s caught them going through another important rite of passage, learning to play hide and seek.

This month I put together some video clips of my nephew as a birthday present to my brother.  I was inspired by Mirka from All Baby Advice blog who does  monthly video captures of her baby Olivia.  Such a brilliant project, baby’s change so quickly, and second children often seem to be documented less.  Have you thought about making a regular video of your children?

Do your children like making video?  I loved this review of Hue animation software from Maggy at Red Ted Art. it sounds like it makes animation really accessible for young children.

Please do go and check out the videos, share some comment love and if you have any for next month’s round up, please leave a link below or contact me.  What do you plan to capture on video this month?  Halloween? Conkers?  Autumn leaves? Also I’ve been given an epilator to review, which has prompted me to ask, what’s in and out of your comfort zone when it comes to vlogging?!
