Beauty Round-up: Shedding the pounds for Christmas

beautyWe may not be in school anymore, but September still brings with it an energy and impetus to get things done.  This month is all about shedding the pounds.  No, not because we are spending it all on Christmas presents already (though I know you are), no, I mean pounds in weight.

I’ve followed the lead of the Boots advert girls and have cleared out the summer products and replaced them with Vitamin C tablets, throat soothers, thick scarfs and gloves.  I’ve stocked up on hot chocolate and lip salve (to fight the battle against the dry air the heating creates) and, along with most ladies I know, have started to try and cut back a little on the sweet foods so that I can look my best for Christmas.  Of course, the real reason for this is so that I can enjoy the Christmas cakes, mince pies, chocolates and other seasonal goodies without feeling remotely guilty! I have no illusions that the weight will stay off over Christmas, but at least it will just go back to its current state, rather than mimicking Mr Greedy!  My method, or methods, for losing weight are here on the Yummy Mummy? Really? blog; big emphasis on the ‘Really?’

At “The Road to being a Yummy Mummy” you are invited to join in and share your weight loss journey, as this blogger begins her self imposed challenge to lose her baby weight.

Umkhaloodie” shares an article about the importance of strength training when trying to lose weight.

Emma at “The MiniMes and Me” has a weight loss reason to be happy this month.

Melksham Mum” has smashed it!  Congratulations love!

An Essex Wife” has been buying new, smaller, clothes.  I am not jealous of the size 10.  I am not jealous of the size 10. (Do you think if I repeat it enough it’ll be true?

21st Century Mummy” Janine has blogged about the link between the levels of sleep you are getting and your ability to lose weight.  Both subjects close to my heart!

7hippopotamus” is moving in the right direction at her weekly weigh in.

If you remember the 1970s fondly like I do, Natasha’s unusual dieting technique is for you at “The 1970s Diet”.

And last, but not least on the weight-loss front, a gang of Britmums Bloggers are also shedding the pounds this month.  They have joined the WeightWatchers Back to Best challenge and are trying out the new WeightWatchers app.  Check out their 51 tips on how to lose weight and get back to best.  You can follow their journey on Twitter at #WWBacktoBest.

Finally, I couldn’t write a beauty round-up this month without including Honest Mummy’s post, “Do your jeans need therapy”, in which she shares a great video.  It really made me chuckle.  I love the fact that there’s less pressure to keep legs hair-free at this time of year.  When they are wrapped up in woolly tights or jeans everyday, why bother?   Well, I’m no epilator fan (the big girl that I am), and amusingly this advert gives me another reason not to try them. Though I’m sure that wasn’t the adverts intention!

If you have a blog post to share on the subject of losing weight, or indeed any other beauty related post (hair, make-up, skincare, you name it), please feel free to add your links below.

Until next time.

About Louise Yummymummy

Louise started writing her blog Yummy Mummy? Really? after becoming a mum and discovering that it was harder than ever to keep looking yummy. Louise is a self-confessed late starter when it comes to beauty treatments and only started wearing make-up 5 years ago after the birth of her first daughter. She blogs both about her attempts to stay looking yummy; with posts on everything from electrolysis to home work-outs; and what she’s learnt as a mummy; from how to change a nappy, what kit you need to feed on the go, and how to avoid toddler tantrums!
