Beauty Round-up: Shellac nails, skin & fake tans

beautyWelcome to the second Britmums Beauty Round up.  I hope you enjoyed last month’s selection.

This month I’ve been getting over excited about Shellac Nails.  Check out my review and pictures here. For those of you that haven’t yet heard of it;  it’s a new nail polish, that comes in a usual nail polish bottle, but you place your fingers in a UV light box to dry it.  In and out, in and out, I felt like shouting “shake yourself about!”  I don’t know anything about the science; what I do know is that, when the beautician says you are done, she means DONE.  They are DRY.  Completely dry.  No fiddling about for your purse and risking smudging your lovely manicure before it’s had chance to set.  It is DRY.  Could I say that anymore?

Oh, and it doesn’t chip.  AT ALL.  There’s a lot of capitals in this post because I am ASTOUNDED at how good this stuff is.  My Shellacs lasted me 15 days.  The only reason (better bold?) that it started to peel off from the ends is that I was forced to cut my nails as they had grown so much I couldn’t get my contact lenses out!  Had I have left them alone, then goodness knows how long they would have lasted, and this is from a girl that chips her nail polish within HOURS (sorry) of a manicure!

Across the Britmums blogosphere this month I have collected a few posts about skin care.  I don’t know about you, but I am a nearly-40 year old and the need for good skin care is reaching a critical point.  The wrinkles are strapping on their armour and getting battle ready!

Here are my skin care selections from this month:

Dr Organics Day cream and Eye Cream – reviewed by Angela at This is Life

Fake Tan – Curtesy of Baby Sister Beauty: How to Fake Tan at Capture by Lucy

Betty Hula Shea Butter Moisturising Cream – reviewed by Madhouse Family Reviews

JooMo Facewash – reviewed by Inside the Wendy House (and a few others too!) It’s a natural skincare range

Green People: a leader in certified organic body care products – reviewed by Nat at Just Because I Love

I hope you find them useful!  I’ll be popping into Boots this lunchtime to try and collar some samples to try!

Have you blogged about a beauty product recently?  Hair?  Make-up?  Skin care?  Feel free to add your Britmums posts to the linky, and if you review any products in the future that you want to share in the coming weeks, please don’t forget to email me, tweet me @ymummyreally, comment here, or visit me at Yummy Mummy? Really?

Till next time,

Louise
