Video Round-up: BiBs, babies & other animals

video round upI want to start my video roundup this month with a very special congratulations to Penny from the Alexander Residence on winning the Brilliance in Blogging award for video at BritMums Live last month. Penny is one of my very favourite vloggers (if I’m allowed to have favourites!), and a very deserving winner for the quality and variety of her videos. Before she won her award she produced this video talking about why she vlogs, including highlights of some of her other videos – it’s a great way to get a feel for her work. Well done Penny!

And whilst I’m in a congratulatory mood there’s a special mention for Lewis from First-Time-Daddy who made a little announcement via video last month, namely that he’s about to become a second time Daddy. Congratulations Lewis – what a lovely way to make the announcement.

And keeping the congratulations rolling for just a little longer, Tinuke, also known as Circus Mum, completed her first 5k run last month in the Race for Life. A week before the event she vlogged about her training and how she was feeling about the impending run. Tinuke has a very natural, relaxed manner in front of the camera, and this vlog embodies what I love about video blogging – seeing the person behind the words.

I am constantly on the lookout for new faces in the vlogging community, and I think I have found a star of the future this month for you via the Practically Perfect Mums blog. This video about the Portishead railway started off as a school project for one boy, but with a Mum who is a video film producer to help, what he has produced goes over and above anything I ever had to produce as a school project (although to be fair we didn’t have video cameras when I was at school!). I’ll be keeping my eyes on this blog hoping for more videos to come.

I must confess one of the things I like about video blogs is having the chance to really see into other people’s lives, and I was delighted to discover a series of vlogs from Lou at The Archers at the Larches. Not only does Lou tell us in her biography that she lives with her hubby, her children, many free range chickens, two rescued cats and a varying amount of sheep, but she uses these videos to give us a real taste of what this life is like. My highlight is the sight of three sheep racing across the field to greet her – this is not something I had imagined that sheep would do!

I’m going to end this roundup by looking forward to the next month a little. First of all, if you’re a fan of the tennis you will be aware that Wimbledon is currently taking place. This is the one sporting event of the year that I follow avidly, and so I enjoyed watching Rachel from This Mid 30s Life take us on a little tour of the queue to get in to Wimbledon. So you’ve got Centre Court tickets have you Rachel?

And finally as we head into Summer (hopefully) I’m hoping to see lots more videos in the same vein as this one from Jacqui from Mummy’s Little Monkey – Big sis’ face when she gets covered in water is priceless! Video is great for preserving those special moments in our little ones’ development for posterity isn’t it?!

Have you made a video blog recently? I would love to see it – please link to it below, and who knows, you might find yourself in next month’s roundup!

Wow, Thanks for the mention, we wanted to make it a little different and I like to think I have a bit of a creative side, so I figured it would be a good reason to make my FIRST video. Glad it got noticed.

    Thanks again!
