Good Reads: Parent fail, slippers on the school run and Mum’s pants

Bonjourno. C’est le WitWitWoo (O-Level in French don’tcha know.)  Here we are again and my week so far has been…a little meh. But never fret. I now have Revels, One Born Every Minute is on the TV and tomorrow I get to ride the bus again – woohoo!

Here are my Good Read picks of the week…

My first offering is from Tim over at Bringing Up Charlie. Now, to clarify: most of the PRs I’ve dealt with in my time as a blogger have been great. Not all, but most. However, in ‘An open letter to PRs everywhere,’ Tim explains about a bad experience he had recently with a PR and gives some valuable tips on how to deal with bloggers respectively. High five, Tim!

Tracey at Mum In Meltdown wrote an interesting post about how her two sons don’t get on, in ‘Parent Fail … or Just Life as We Know It.’ There’s no law that says we all have to get along, especially when it comes to families, and I love Tracey’s honesty. Besides, I’m sure deep down (deep, deep down) they love each other really.

I love Her (Royal) Melness and she’s given us another thought-provoking post with, ‘Is it safe to take medical advice from Twitter?’  Social media can really provide great support when we’re feeling at our most vulnerable, but is it wise to take medical advice from people we don’t really know? Just like in real life, my personal view is always ask a professional.

I had the pleasure of meeting Alice from My Life My Son My Way as we share a love of all things Wicked (the musical that is!).  She made me laugh with her post ‘I think I just died of embarrassment.’  Suffice to say, poor Alice had a bad day. Still, she’s pretty gorgeous – even if she does wear her slippers on the school run.

Jax from Live Otherwise often tackles highly topical issues and her post, ‘I’m as mad as hell and I’m not going to take this any more’ is no exception. It’s concerning the reform surrounding Disability Living Allowance and Jax urges us all to read the Spartucus Report, which explains more.

The title of this next post was enough to grab my attention – for those who know me this would come as no surprise.  Alice from More Than Toast teases us with the ultimate recipe for Pulled Pork. (Mmm…pulled pork.)  I love the look of her blog, especially the high quality of the photos and well, it’s pork – what’s not to love?!

In ‘Horseriding – The Best Therapy?’ the adorable Alex from All For Aleyna talks about how Aleyna has come on in leaps and bounds since she began horse riding. Speaking as someone who is pretty petrified of horses, I am going to send a massive cyber high five to Aleyna for being so much braver than me.

Peppa Pig rocks, right?  Well, according to the Daily Fail, she doesn’t. Mummy and the Beastie picked up on this article and asks, ‘Is Peppa Pig a bad influence?’ I’m more of a Power Rangers girl these days but what are your thoughts on this article?

I didn’t realise that Boots accepted unused drugs and after reading ‘A misunderstanding at the pharmacy’ by Emily at More Than Just A Mother, I don’t think I’ll be using that service in a hurry. She did make me laugh though – great vision of her legging it down the personal hygiene aisle after a massive miscommunication!

My final choice is from Kat at 3 Bedroom Bungalow. All I’ll say is this: she likes wearing her Mum’s pants. That is all.  (Well, there is an explanation but still, it’s bloody funny.)

So that’s me done for this week. I must dash – I’ve got Revels to eat…apart from the coffee ones, natch.

About Kate Sutton

Kate Sutton is the owner of the wonderfully eclectic lifestyle blog, WitWitWoo. A mother to two boys, she has a knack for making the most banal things much more interesting than they really are. Normally found talking about cake, sausages and Riverdance on Twitter (@iamwitwitwoo) her considerably sized, Titian hair can be seen from satellite. Kate loves to dance, sing (very) badly and laugh a lot. Her fiercely competitive streak has now earnt her the title of world record breaker. She has added this to her existing list of accolades, which include Apprentice interviewee, Smirnoff model and ex-majorette.
